7up's new commercial campaign: In the past few weeks, you may have noticed a commercial campaign featuring a boiling city-scape in mid summer: " Beware the Heat ". During the initial advertisement, there is absolutely no mention of any brand name or logo. It is entirely mysterious. However during one viewing of the commercial, looking attentively, I tried to discern a brand logo which would be hidden - feeling certain I would not be disappointed. In doing so, I have the strong feeling that I saw a Coca-Cola logo on a wooden fence of a construction site for a second. Later in the month, the product was revealed on an alternate version of the commercial. It was 7up, however, a company partly affiliated to Pepsi. " Pepsi-QTG " seems to be running the contest, a section of Pepsi-Cola Canada. Beware the Heat: The commercial spots are featured on the website. Behind the scenes of the media industry: I am a student in jounalism in a combined program with the University of Ottawa and La Cite Collegiale. I have finished my second year and am preparing to transfer to the applied stage of my degree. I would like to offer some of my knowlegde and reflexions regarding the media and the press (in Canada, mainly) over the next few months.
